Restarting OneDrive

(Windows 11, System Tray Method)

  1. Locate the system tray

    • Look at the bottom-right corner of your screen on the taskbar.

    • This area shows icons for background apps (Wi-Fi, sound, battery, etc.).

  2. Reveal hidden icons

    • If you don’t see the OneDrive cloud icon (white for personal, blue for work/school), click the small upward arrow ^ (Show hidden icons).

    • A small pop-up will appear with additional app icons.

  3. Find the OneDrive icon

    • Look for the cloud symbol:

      • White cloud = Personal OneDrive

      • Blue cloud = Work/School OneDrive

  4. Close OneDrive

    • Right-click the OneDrive cloud icon.

    • In the menu, select Close OneDrive (or sometimes it just says Exit).

    • A confirmation window may pop up — click Close OneDrive again.

  5. Restart OneDrive

    • Click the Start button (Windows icon in the bottom left).

    • Type OneDrive in the search box.

    • Click on the OneDrive app from the results to launch it again.

    • The cloud icon should reappear in the system tray once it restarts.
